At the conclusion of the first quarter, we feel like we have seen a bit of everything. We had our fair share of singles. Feb had us feeling like we were watching EC hiphop with the amount of music videos submitted. This month will be remembered for the amount of events that came across our desk. Our question is this… Have you contributed to the EC Hiphop score board in the 1st quarter or has the coach got you warming the bench?
Singles
March has been a good month for singles with 21 fresh tracks submitted. Consuming all these songs and trying to pick one from this batch almost seems unfair. We had two extremes, relaxed, laid-back, all out positive songs from people like Nandile, Mr Douw and Yahkeem to name a few. The other side was all the way turnt up with bangers from the likes of Reebow and Luke

We vibe to relaxed, laid-back, all out positive songs but when ‘Type Of Feeling’ comes on we can’t resist. You in your feelings right? Why wouldn’t you be…? UTA is coming through and you either going to act like you never heard them or you going to catch the feeling. Luke bodied this track on the verses and with a catchy hook plus adlibs that come nicely together, it just screams ‘Pick Of The Month’.

Tapes
Yosh The Rapper released The Yosh EP this month. Reading the credits on the tape is mouth watering with production from TeadotBeats, John-A(Blacksmithed class of 2016 Beatmakers), Kimosabe who was featured in the latest Hype Mag as talent to look out for, Rydxr and Hpnotic. #WatchECHiphop… King Meezi dropped his music video to “Good Life”, Hasty South finally set free the visuals to “Zaga” directed by Kyle White TV, Yanga dropped the “Mntase” music video, beutiful song and a dope video to go with it.
EC is dropping the visuals to the music lets get the views WAY UP, #WatchECHiphp!
We dropped a series of #Soso16 videos. These videos were a part of the content we got when we visited East London, Butterworth and King Williams Town. We manage to link up with Slogan, TK Soul, Chuwee, D’Freak and more. If you missed these videos head over to our YouTube Account and check them out.
Events
The Blacksmithed was invited by Campus Vibes to cover their event in Grahamstown. It was a successful show and we have all the pics and videos on our Instagram Account.
Ubuntu Tours did their thing in Dimbaza this month. The Imibala Festival is happening right now(1 April) in PE. Lastly PE will see the launch of their bi-weekly cypher event hosted at 263 Kempston Road, ‘Cotton Premier Nite Club’. The first one will be on Sunday 2nd April. If you are in PE please support this initiative and get out there. The Blacksmithed will be there!
